My name is Sarah Camille Soltani Icely - but you can call me Camille. I was born in Summerville, SC, and have been an artist since I could hold a crayon in my hand. My love for poetry and writing began when I was around 6 years old.
I have always been a very sensitive child, and these sensitivities never left me as I grew into an adult. This sensitivity which I often felt cursed by, is my greatest blessing. I have seen God move in many ways, through miracles, encounters, and the little things in life that often go unseen.
In 4th grade I was accepted into Rollings School of the Arts (Now Rollings Middle School of the Arts), where I learned a lot of my art foundations. But it was in my early 20's where I decided to let go of a lot of the rules and regulations I was taught in art school, and began to paint with total freedom, often not even knowing how or what I was painting. I would listen to the Spirit and even paint with my hands at times, and the image and meaning of a painting would come out before me. Painting is one of my favortie ways to connect to God. Many times what I hear the Spirit speak in these times, I share, because I know it is for more than just myself.
The poem or verse that accompanies each painting is written either for the artwork specifically, or I find it naturally went with an art piece created in the same season that a poem was written.
I currently have sold paintings and prints all across America, Europe, and some places in Australia. A dream of mine is to one day have a piece of my art on every continent. After spending several years living abroad in England, I have recently returned to my hometown in America and live with my wonderful husband and other half, Shanen Soltani Icely. I am a full-time artist, selling mostly online, but also share a studio space with other local artists in the Public Works Building in downtown Summerville, South Carolina. If your visiting Summerville, and taking a stroll throught the Public Works gallery, you can find my prints, paintings, and books for sale in the Carnes Crossroads Artist Coop studio.
My biggest hope in life is for the Spirit to personally speak to the heart of each person who owns one of my paintings, prints, or books; to bring them encouragement and hope where needed, and to remind them in everyday: You are known, and you are loved.
